Pergola Project

Osage American Indian Memorial Pergola Park

Located on the corner of 31st and Harrison, the Osage American Indian Memorial Pergola Park is part of an on-going project to bring recognition of the Troost area as an Osage (Wah Zha Zhi) Nation trail and hunting lands during the 18th and 19th centuries.

In conjunction with Taliaferro & Browne, Inc. and Greenleaf Construction, construction is expected to begin in 2012. Artistic elements are being designed by Anita Fields, a well-known and respected Osage American Indian artist.

In the long-term goal of assisting youth, construction, planning and appropriate level work will be performed by youth in the entrepreneurial, job training programs supported by the White Buffalo Scholarship Fund.

The Park and Pergola projects have received overwhelming support and acclaim from all the surrounding area neighborhoods and local businesses for the beautification and improvement of an area of land that is currently in non-use and neglect.
